Cheltenham Town Women have been knocked out of the FA Cup following a 4-0 defeat against league rivals Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
Goals from Zoe Barratt, Kerry Beattie, Georgie Freeland and Esta Roberts condemned the Robinesses to defeat.
Cheltenham had the first chance of the game, Chloe Snook’s early effort on the turn narrowly wide.
Despite that, it was Portsmouth who raced into a two-goal lead, Barrat and Beattie on target for the hosts.
Barrat got the opener, receiving the ball on the edge of the area and curling an effort home, whilst Beattie found herself unmarked in the area and made no mistake to make it two a few minutes later.
However, a few minutes later, the Robinesses almost got one back, Snook’s through ball to Joyce was pinpoint, but goalkeeper Hermione Cull was alert to the danger.
Whilst Pompey had chances to add a third before the break, it finished 2-0 to the hosts after the first 45 minutes.
The visitors were close to getting one back after the hour mark, Indie Power’s cross in cleared to the feet of Casi Evans, whose shot was headed off the line by Annie Wilding.
But up the other end, the hosts added a third, Freeland’s effort from long range curling in after a miscommunication in defence.
It was four with two minutes of the 90 left to play, Roberts converting from close range.
Cheltenham return to league action on Thursday evening, hosting local rivals Swindon Town at Kayte Lane.
