Cheltenham Town suffered a 2-0 defeat to a strong Plymouth Argyle side at Kayte Lane.
Goals from Charlotte Whitmore and Pheobie Poole sealed all three points for the visitors.
First Half:
The first chance fell to the visitors, Pheobie Poole meeting a cross, her headed effort narrowly wide.
Tianna Teisar had the next chance, pressing Cheltenham well, but not able to reap the reward, hitting the post.
Plymouth were really piling on the pressure in the opening stages of the half, Katie Wilson the next to try her luck.
Whitmore’s corner met the foot of Wilson, her effort on the volley over the bar.
Bella Hall had the first good chance for Cheltenham with goalkeeper Hermoine Cull racing off her line.
However, Hall couldn’t capitalise, her lobbed effort not hitting the target, and it remained 0-0 with half an hour gone.
Argyle did have the ball in the net from a corner, but it was ruled out for offside in the next minutes, the clock ticking toward half time.
Courtney Jones had the next chance, her header wide, before Plymouth took the lead.
Whitmore ran in behind and slotted the ball home on the eve of the half, meaning the Robinesseswent 1-0 down at the break.
Second Half:
After a quiet second half, Argyle doubled their lead from the spot before the hour mark, Poole’s penalty in off the post.
Substitute Louise Guymira had an effort zip wide from long-range after a good bit of individual play, taking the ball down well before driving inside.
But Tom Davies’ side couldn’t find a way back into the tie and will look to bounce back away to AFC Wimbledon next Sunday.
