Match Preview: Exeter City

August 16, 2025

Cheltenham Town Women will be looking to kick off their 2025/26 campaign with all three points as they take on Exeter City Women at Kayte Lane on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

After a strong pre-season, Tom Davies’ side will be looking to open their account in the league after seven back-to-back wins in pre-season.

However, their opponents won’t prove to be an easy feat, and have also had a strong pre-season, going unbeaten.

Their final game of pre-season saw them face fellow Tier Three side Wolverhampton Wanderers, and running out 4-3 winners after a hat-trick for Sophie Gillies and a goal from Georgia Vaccaro.

The Grecians are a familiar opposition to the Robinesses, finishing fourth in their debut season in the division last year, while Cheltenham finished eighth.

Cheltenham will be looking to rectify last season’s misfortune against the away side, losing 3-0 at home and 2-1 away from home in both fixtures against Exeter during the 2024/25 campaign.

Goals from Amber Pollock and Maya Kendell ruled out Doris Greenwood’s then equaliser at St James Park last time out against Abbie Britton’s side.

Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s. Cheltenham supporters can purchase their tickets in advance HERE, whilst visiting Exeter City fans can purchase their tickets in advance here
