Cheltenham Town Women have confirmed the permanent signing of Welsh U19 international Charlotte Salisbury-Williams from Blackburn Rovers.

Salisbury-Williams started playing at nine years old for her local girls team, Brickfield Rangers, before moving to The New Saints, where she was the top goal scorer for four seasons in a row, scoring 148 goals in 102 games.

She then made the switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers for three seasons, making her first team debut at 16 before leaving to return to the Welsh league.

Last season, the youngster signed for Blackburn Rovers and was loaned to Halifax Town, playing in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division.

On making the switch to the Robinesses, Salisbury-Williams said, “Since hearing of the interest in me, I’ve been very excited as I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the club.

“Their success last season is exactly what I want to be a part of and be around and I believe this season with the squad and the other signings, there is no doubt we can achieve that again but also push ourselves to be better and get to the levels we know we can get to.”

On her personal aims for the season, she said, “Just to play as much as possible, and be involved in goals and be the best I can be.

“I believe Cheltenham is the best place I can achieve and reach my goals.”

“Many people would describe my playing style as aggressive but in the best way, and very passionate.”

Tom Davies’ side continue their pre-season preparations with a fixture against Sporting Khalsa on Sunday, July 12, before additional games against Bridgwater United, Loughborough Lightning and Swansea City.
