PREVIEW: Bristol City Academy (GFA Senior Women’s Cup)

April 15, 2025

Cheltenham Town Women take on their second final in three days when they face Bristol City Under-21s in the Gloucestershire Senior County Cup on Tuesday night at Oaklands Park (7.30pm).

Tom Davies’ side will be hoping to put Sunday’s Plate final defeat by AFC Bournemouth behind them quickly, with a spirited second-half display almost forcing extra-time.

To make it to Tuesday’s final, Cheltenham faced Bristol Rovers and Pucklechurch Sports Ladies in their Group B fixtures.

Meg Attenborough scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory away to Rovers before an 11-0 victory against Pucklechurch secured the top spot in the Group.

Goals from the victory came from Jess Leach (3), Emily Owen (3), Henna Butcher, Issy Newns and Anais Trinci.

At the semi-final stage, Cheltenham came up against local rivals Forest Green Rovers.

The Robins ran out 8-0 victors to make it to the final of the competition; Una Lue scored five with Newns, Owen and Abbey Hateley also scoring.

City also topped their group, beating AEK Boco Ladies 8-0 in their first game, before beating FGR 3-0 in their final group game.

They ran out 2-1 victors in a Bristol derby in their semi-final game to set up the final against Tom Davies’ side.

City U-21s currently play in the Pro Game Academies (PGA) set-up, playing in the Category 1 part of the Women’s Championship set-up.

For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on The Club’s X (formerly Twitter) Account as well as on Instagram.
