PREVIEW: Hashtag United Away

March 7, 2025

Cheltenham Town Women will be looking to take a massive step towards survival when they take on Hashtag United on Sunday (3pm kick-off).

The Robinesses travel to Parkside on Sunday, after two weeks off, after the late postponement of last Sunday’s match against AFC Wimbledon.

They travel to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division league leaders, who currently sit six points clear of Ipswich Town, albeit having played three games more than the Tractor Girls.

Cheltenham need the points to steer clear of relegation, as they currently sit in 9th place, three points clear of Billericay Town who occupy the final relegation spot. They take on already relegated MK Dons on Sunday.

It starts a busier end to March than originally planned due to rescheduling, as after the long trip to Essex, the Robinesses return to Kayte Lane on Thursday March 13, to take on Forest Green Rovers in the Gloucestershire County Cup Semi-Finals (7:45pm kickoff).

After that, they travel back to AFC Wimbledon on Sunday March 16 (2pm kick-off), they make the trip down the M5 to Exeter City on Sunday March 23, (2pm kick-off) and round off the month with the final home game of the 2024/25 season, as they welcome Lewes to Kayte Lane a week later (2pm kickoff).

This weekend they take on Jason Stephens’ Tags, who haven’t lost since their WNL Cup Semi-Final against Nottingham Forest back in January. Last weekend they got perhaps the biggest three points of their season so far, inflicting a first league defeat on Ipswich Town, with Hayley West getting the only goal six minutes from time.

Last time the two sides met back in September, the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Kayte Lane. An own goal gave the Tags the lead 34 minutes in, but Doris Greenwood levelled up for the Robinesses to secure a well-earned point. It’s only one of five occasions this season in the league where Hashtag have failed to win.

Last time out at Parkside back in December 2023, Una Lue got the only goal as Tom Davies’ side picked up one of the best wins of last season.

The game is being played at Parkside, the home of Aveley FC, RM15 4PX. Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for U12s.
