Cheltenham Town see a 4-1 defeat against Bristol City PGA

March 29, 2026

Cheltenham Town suffered a 4-1 defeat against Bristol City PGA in their final group stage game of the Gloucestershire FA Women’s Senior Cup.

Both teams, who met in last year’s final, could not mathematically advance to the final but, despite this, netted a total of five goals, putting on a display at Kayte Lane on Sunday afternoon.

As it Happened

Cheltenham Town got off to a strong start as the first shot of the game fell to Millie Pullen in the seventh minute. Pullen cut inside but saw her effort go just wide of the target, denying Town of the opening goal.

Just a few minutes later and Bristol City would be on the counter-attack, finding their first shot of the match, only to be headered over the bar by Libby Bell.

City then had a corner which hit the bar and went out for a goal kick, leaving the scoreline at 0-0 after 15 minutes of play.

Just before the 20 minute mark Emily Owen made two strong blocks to deny any successful City crosses, this then resulted in a corner for the visitors which was expertly cleared away.

Bella Hall attempted to capitalise on a Town corner though found her initial effort saved by Ella Stowell.

Cheltenham saw another corner just a minute later, and after a few efforts from close range, captain Emma Owen managed to poke it into the net, giving the home side the advantage.

Minutes later and City received a free-kick from a good position though their shot went just over Anna Draper’s crossbar.

The visitors didn’t remain goalless for long though as a powerful strike for Katie Aspinall hit the back of the net, setting the scoreline level.

Just before the half-time whistle Nia Flock would give the visitors the advantage.

Half-Time: Cheltenham Town 1-2 Bristol City PGA

Bristol City would manage to get another on the scoresheet just minutes into the second-half.

Owen tried her luck once again, shooting from a distance, attempting to loop the ball over Stowell but instead narrowly missing the target.

Hall once again found herself looking to get herself on the scoresheet but her effort went just over.

Indie Power’s initial attempt for City looked as though it was going in but quick clearance from Charlotte Salisbury-Williams denied her of her goal.

That wouldn’t last for long though as just three minutes later Power managed to find the back of the net, as well as the final goal for the visiting side.
