Cheltenham Town Pick Up First League Win Against Plymouth Argyle

October 11, 2026

Cheltenham Town Women picked up their first three points of the league season in a dominant 4-1 win over Plymouth Argyle Women at Kayte Lane.

Goals from Charlotte Salisbury-Williams, Emily Owen and Chloe Snook ruled out Laura Curnock’s penalty.

The away side had the first big chance of the half when Shana Dolbel’s header hit the crossbar, before goalkeeper Chloe Jones was on hand to deny Curnock on the rebound.

It was the Robinesses who took the lead, however, Salisbury-Williams’ effort from range looping over keeper Olivia Giles to break the deadlock at Kayte Lane.

As the clock ticked towards 45, Argyle were given a penalty for a push in the area, with Curncock stepping up and scoring past Jones to level the tie.

But Cheltenham were given a spot kick not long after, Chloe Snook adjudged to have been brought down inside the box.

Skipper Owen stepped up and made no mistake, slotting her effort into the bottom right-hand corner to give Tom Davies’ side a 2-1 lead going into the break.

Within the opening five minutes of the second half, Cheltenham were awarded a second penalty, the third of the game, and once again Owen stepped up and scored.

It wasn’t long before the hosts added a fourth; Leo Joyce’s inch-perfect through ball finished off well by strike partner Snook.

Whilst Cheltenham had half-chances to add to the advantage, none were taken, and after five minutes of added time, it ended 4-1.

Cheltenham make the trip to Fratton Park next weekend to face Portsmouth in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division.

Cheltenham: Jones; Wellesley-Davies, Owen, Hall; Salisbury-Williams (Hicks-Kenward 61), Jones (Evans 56), Curtis (O’Keefe 76), Day, Bell (Murphy 61); Snook, Joyce (Galley 70).
