Cheltenham Town picked up their first win of the season in dramatic style, beating Worcester City 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Kayte Lane.
Two own goals and a brace from Chloe Snook ruled out a brace from Charlotte Poole and a goal from Evie Billingsley for the visitors.
The game started quickly, with Chloe Jones called into action early doors, preventing Poole from scoring whilst one-on-one.
Up the other end, Leo Joyce called Jodie Whiteman into an excellent save as Cheltenham searched for the opener.
The Robinesses did get the opener just before the 20-minute mark, with Charlotte Salisbury-William’s cross into the box turned in by an onrushing Worcester defender.
However, it did not take long for the away side to level, Billingsley’s strike from long-range giving keeper Jones no chance.
Worcester then got another before the end of the half, Jess Fassnidge and Poole combining to give the opposition the lead.
After a barrage of Cheltenham corners and half-chances, it finished 2-1 to Worcester at the break.
It didn’t take long for Worcester to add another, Poole’s shot into an empty net taking a nick off Emily Owen within the opening five minutes of the second half.
However, the deficit was reduced to one through Snook who scored her first goal in red and white, giving Tom Davies’ side a lifeline with 20-minutes left on the clock.
Snook got the equaliser not long after, combining well with fellow striker Joyce, Snook on hand to slot home from close range.
It got better for Cheltenham after the 80th-minute mark, the turnaround complete with Joyce’s effort turned home by another Worcester defender to give the Robinesses the lead.
With the clock ticking into additional time, Worcester were awarded a penalty after a handball in the area, but keeper Jones was on hand to produce a brilliant double save from the spot, saving both the penalty and the rebound effort.
After nine minutes of additional time, the full-time whistle was blown, and Cheltenham picked up all three points at home.
Cheltenham return to league action next weekend, hosting Exeter City at Kayte Lane next Sunday.
