Cheltenham Town Women are excited to announce the signing of young defender Kaitlyn Hicks-Kenward
The teenager joins the club on an ADR (Academy Development Registration) from WSL side Birmingham City.
Hicks-Kenward has been a key part of the Blues side that has won the Under-21s plate twice in a row in the last two seasons, featuring off the bench in both finals.
During the 2024/25 campaign, a dramatic seven-goal thriller saw Birmingham lift the cup over Leicester City, whilst last season’s comeback win over Brighton and Hove Albion saw them retain the accolade.
On linking up with the squad, Hicks-Kenward said: “It feels good to join the club; I’m excited about the season ahead. I think it’ll be very different to what I’ve played before, but I’m mostly excited.
On making the step up to Tier Three, the teenager admitted: “My time at Birmingham PGA has been good, but I think it’s good to learn a different sort of game. Women’s football and PGA football is obviously very different, but I’m hoping I’ve got some skills I can bring from youth football that’ll do me some good here.
“I feel ready for Tier Three football. This pre-season has been good; I’ve already learnt a few things in training here, and it’ll be a good challenge.”
Welcome to Cheltenham, Kaitlyn!
