PREVIEW: AFC Wimbledon Away

March 15, 2025

Cheltenham Town Women will be looking to take a big step to securing their Women’s National League Southern Premier Division status for another season when they travel to AFC Wimbledon on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The Robinesses are only a few days removed from their 8-0 win over Forest Green Rovers, a win that sealed their spot in the Gloucestershire County Cup Final. Goals from Issy Newns, Abbey Hateley, captain Emily Owen and five goals from Una Lue secured the victory at Kayte Lane. The final, to be played next month, will be between either Bristol City U21s or Bristol Rovers, who play in the second Semi-Final on Sunday.

Tom Davies’ side will be hoping its third time lucky when they head down to Raynes Park Vale on Sunday, after a postponement on the first Sunday of 2025 due to a waterlogged pitch, and a late cancellation two weeks ago after the Robinesses had already made the journey.

The last time the two sides met was back in September, where the Dons ran out 3-0 winners,  brace from Ashlee Hincks and a goal from Kau’Inohea Taylor.

They travel to Wimbledon with four league games to go, with the Robinesses currently sitting in ninth, 1 point clear of Plymouth Argyle who occupy the final relegation space. Wimbledon currently sit in seventh place on 23 points, two points off sixth placed Lewes with two games in hand.

After the trip to face Kevin Foster’s Dons, Cheltenham travel to Exeter City on Sunday March 23, and welcome Lewes to Kayte Lane a week later in the final home game of the 2024/25 season.

Before the final game of the season against Ipswich on Sunday April 27, Davies’ side have two finals, one being the County Cup Final, and the other being the WNL Plate Final against AFC Bournemouth which will be on Sunday April 13, at 2pm, at Oxford City FC.

Tomorrow’s game is being played at Raynes Park Vale FC, SW20 9DZ. Tickets are £7 for adults, and U18s go free, with tickets being available on the gate.

For supporters unable to attend, live updates will be available on the Club’s X (formerly Twitter) Account as well as on Instagram.
