Cheltenham Town Women will shift their focus to the Gloucestershire Senior Women’s Cup this weekend, when they make the short trip to Bristol Rovers on Sunday (2:00pm kick-off)
Last time out, Tom Davies’ side lost 2-0 to Wolves in the Fourth Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. This was the first time they had gotten to this stage, and the occasion was marked with a new home attendance record for the Robinesses, as 576 fans were at Kayte Lane last weekend.
After a goalless first half, goals from Amber Hughes and Beth Merrick secured Dan McNamara’s side’s place in the last 16, matching their run from last term.
The Robinesses make the trip to Bristol Rovers, a team who also had an eventful run in the FA Cup. Wins against Sholing, Sherborne Town, Marine Academy Plymouth and Oxford United sealed their place in the last 32.
That run secured a game against Women’s Super League side Aston Villa, where the Gas Girls lost 9-0 last weekend. Before last weekend, Rovers hadn’t lost in all competitions since a 2-0 defeat to Keynsham Town last September.
Nathan Hallett-Young’s side have already played a County Cup game, as they beat Pucklechurch Sports, 1-0, back in November.
Davies’ side turn attention to the Gloucestershire Senior Women’s Cup, where they will also face Pucklechurch in Group B at Kayte Lane on Sunday February 16.
Group A consists of AEK Boco, Forest Green Rovers, and Bristol City U21s. Two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, and an eventual final will take place to crown a winner.
The game is being played at Bristol Manor Farm FC, BS9 2EJ. Tickets will be available to be bought on the gate, on the day.
For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on the Club’s X Account (formerly Twitter) as well as on Instagram.
