Cheltenham Town Women FC have today confirmed the signing of former Bristol Rovers Women midfielder Libby Bell.
The 26 year old spent five years with the Gas Girls and the Robinesses’ new signing is relishing the opportunity to test herself in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier.
“I really enjoyed my time at Bristol, onto new challenges now though, I’m really looking forward to seeing how I get on in a higher tier.” She told Gloucestershire Live.
“All the girls are class, and the manager and the coaching staff have been great so far, so I feel like I’m learning a lot already.”
The former Bristol Rovers captain is excited to get the campaign underway and looking to help The Club improve on their past two seasons which has seen the Robinesses finish eight and seventh respectively.
“I’m really looking forward to the season, the girls have been super welcoming, so I can’t wait to get started,” she said.
“Hopefully we can build on last year, the team did well last year so hopefully we can push on and do the best we can.”
And finally, the 26-year-old described herself to some of the Robins faithful who might not have seen her play before: “I like to get on the ball, I’m quite loud, quite physical.”
Bell joins Lacy-Jai Liggett in signings recently announced for the Gloucestershire side, who are in pre-season action ahead of the new season against Portsmouth in a behind closed doors friendly on Sunday, July 28.
The FA Women’s National League Southern Premier campaign gets underway on August 18, as Cheltenham welcome Plymouth to Kayte Lane (2pm kick-off). For a list of the Robinesses’ 2024/25 fixtures, click here.
