Cheltenham Town host Bristol City Under-21s at Kayte Lane on Sunday afternoon (2pm kick-off) in the final group stage game of the Gloucestershire FA Women’s Senior Cup.
Last weekend’s dramatic 2-2 draw against AFC Wimbledon saw the Robinesses come back from a two-goal deficit to grab a point late on, thanks to goals from Emily Owen and Bella Hall.
Attention now turns to the County Cup, however, with the sides facing each other in Group A of the newly formatted competition. The new format sees the top sides from both groups go straight to the final, with no semi-finals involved.
A 3-2 win over Tier Five Gloucester City was followed by a 3-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers, which means the Gas Girls currently sit at the top of the group on nine points, having won all three games.
Despite the fact that neither side can mathematically advance to the final, this match will still be a fierce clash between the two sides who met in last year’s final.
Natalie Haigh’s side have experienced mixed forms in cup competitions this season, with strong wins against the likes of Keynsham Town and Gloucester in both the FAWNL Cup and the County Cup, but have also suffered disappointing defeats in both competitions as well.
Losses against Swindon Town, Gwalia United and Moneyfields knocked them out of both the FAWNL Cup and the FAWNL Plate, whilst a 3-2 loss against rivals Bristol Rovers gives the visitors no chance of securing a place in the final of a competition they won last season.
Tickets are £6 for adults and £1 for under 18s. Cheltenham fans can book their tickets in advance HERE, whilst visiting Bristol City fans can purchase their tickets in advance here.
For supporters unable to attend tonight’s game, updates will be provided on the club’s X (formerly Twitter) page as well as on Instagram, with live commentary also available on the club’s Mixlr channel.
