Report by Abi Harding

Cheltenham Town have been knocked out of the FAWNL Cup after a 3-1 defeat against Swindon Town at the Nigel Eady County Ground.

Goals from Annie Coulston and Libby Davies ruled out Bella Hall’s opener.

First Half:

Cheltenham started the game well, Issy Newns hitting the post within the opening 10 minutes after Charlotte Salisbury-Williams played her through.

A few minutes later, Hall did get Cheltenham’s opener, Salisbury-Williams’ cross being poked home from close range after some great passing play.

However, the hosts equalised through striker Coulston, her curling effort into the top right-hand corner.

They took the lead a few minutes later, Davies scoring from long range.

Goalscorer Hall tested Hannah Cox’s goal further in the half but wasn’t able to find a way past the Swindon keeper.

Amelie Curtis’ effort dropped just wide of the near post, but the away side couldn’t find a way back into the game before half-time.

Second Half:

Like the first half, the Robinesses started the second half well, Hall and Guymira causing issues.

Hall did have the ball in the net, and was one-on-one with Cox, but was adjudged to be offside both times.

Swindon then made it three, Coulston’s rocket increasing their advantage by two goals.

However, Cheltenham did threaten Cox’s goal again, Hall’s effort cannoning off the bar as the away side looked for a way back into the game.

Centre-back Casi Evans’ effort from long range bobbled just past the post, with skipper Emily Owen not able to convert Salisbury-Williams’ corner with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Guymira won the side a late corner with her brilliant running, Owen again, unable to convertthe header, as it finished 3-1 to the hosts.

Cheltenham are on the road again next Sunday as they travel to Hashtag United as focus return to league action.

Cheltenham: Garrigan; Salisbury-Williams (Norman 90+4), Evans, Owen, Llewellyn, Bell(Trinci 84); Arnott (Lue 64), Curtis, Guymira; Hall, Newns (Ellis 69)
