Cheltenham Town Make It Five Matches Unbeaten With Win Over Lewes.

November 4, 2025

Cheltenham Town Women made it five games unbeaten in all competitions with a 2-1 win over Lewes at Kayte Lane.

Goals from Bella Hall and Amelie Curtis were enough to rule out Olivia Carpenter’s then-equaliser.

First Half:

Cheltenham started the game well, Hall, skipper Emily Owen and Issy Newns having early chances.

Hall did get the opener just before the 20-minute mark, doing extremely well to beat two defenders before slotting home from a tight angle, after a long ball over the top by Welsh U19 Charlotte Salisbury-Williams.

Minutes later, the hosts almost had a second, goalkeeper Charlotte Haynes’ goalkick reaching Salisbury-Williams, whose lobbed effort was unfortunately wide of the target.

Newns had a similar effort as the half an hour mark approached, her strike from a tight angle on the near side hitting the side netting.

Tom Davies’ side still had to be careful, however, defender Casi Evans denying a certain equaliser, heading Leah Lane’s effort off the line.

The visitors did equalise in the next few minutes, Olivia Carpenter’s long-range effort pegging Cheltenham back before the break.

But, the Robinesses regrouped well, and put their noses back in front before the end of the half.

Hall did extremely well yet again to run down in on goal, and forced Emily Moore into a save, the parried shot into the path of Amelie Curtis, who made no mistake and volleyed home from close range.

Second Half:

Unlike the first half, the second half started slow, neither side having too many chances.

Haynes was called into action to preserve the one goal lead after Layla Banaras had three shots on goal, with Libby Bell and Guymira threatening for a Robinesses third, but the scoreline remained 2-1 with 15 minutes left to play.

Chaos descended over Kayte Lane in the final few minutes of play as both Ylenia Priest and Charlotte Haynes were sent off for a clash in the box in added time.

Centre-back Ffion Llewellyn went in goal for the remaining few minutes, and managed to keep all of Lewes attempts out of the goal, as Cheltenham picked up a crucial three points after 14 minutes of added time.

The result leaves the Robinesses sat fifth in the league, but focus returns to the FAWNL Cup next week, as Cheltenham make the trip to Swindon Town.
