Robinesses add Bristol City Goalkeeper on Dual Registration

August 13, 2025

Cheltenham Town Women have announced the signing of young goalkeeper Ella Stowell from Bristol City on a dual registration.

The 17-year-old faced Tom Davies’ side last season in the Gloucestershire FA County Cup Final, playing for Bristol City’s U21 side.

On joining the Robinesses, Stowell said “I’m very happy to be here. It’s such an ambitious club and I can’t wait to get started!”

Stowell echoed the thoughts of fellow summer signing Louise Apuusi, agreeing with the striker that Cheltenham could challenge towards the top of the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

“I think we are in a position where we can have another good season in the league, and on top of that, we can go far in the cup competitions like last season.”

Davies’ side made it to two finals last term, the FAWNL Plate Final against AFC Bournemouth, and the County Cup final against Stowell’s Bristol City U21 side.

When asked if that game against the Robinesses influenced her decision to join this season, Stowell said, “They played some really good football in that game against us, we definitely struggled against them, and Cheltenham were unfortunate on the day, but I’m here now and I’m excited to get going.”

Cheltenham Town Women’s season gets underway on Sunday, August 17, when they will face Exeter City at Kayte Lane.
